Homework Policy

Homework Policy

In third grade, students will have approximately 30-45 minutes

of homework each night.  Homework will consist of spelling,

reading, and math.  Students will have all three assignments

each night.  Below is a brief description and the expectations

of the assignments.

Math: Students will have a math worksheet each night.

Students will have approximately 15 minutes in class each day

to begin their math assignment.  At home each night, students

will need to finish the math worksheet.
This should take no

more than 10 minutes!
If you are finding math is taking

more than 10 minutes, sign the top of your child’s assignment a

and send it back to school.  Your student will not be punished

for an incomplete assignment that has been signed.  Your

student will receive help on their assignment later in the day.

Reading:
Students will read for 20 minutes each night.

Students are expected to answer a question on their reading

log.  Answers must be at least two (2) sentences long and be

in complete sentences.  Your student must answer a different

question every night.

Spelling:  While there is no written spelling assignment,

students are expected to practice their spelling words every

night.

Homework will be listed in the assignment notebook each

night.  Please make sure you are checking your student’s

assignment notebook every night and signing it.

Assignment notebooks will be checked every morning for

a signature.

* Any incomplete homework will be completed during

recess.  Students who do not complete homework will

lose their entire recess. *
